Posted Noveember 14 @ 1:10 p.m.

Ronald D. Crockett thanks everyone for participating in the recent election and for his being re-elected to an eighth term as Sheriff of Lancaster County.  Once the election is certified by the state electoral board, Crockett will be sworn in by the clerk of the circuit court.  Following that, his current staff will be sworn in to continue serving the citizens of Lancaster County.

Sheriff Crockett, 59, and his wife Cathy live in Irvington.  One of their daughters lives in the metropolitan Richmond area while she attends culinary school and the other works for the King George County School board.  Their son resides in White Stone.

Crockett is a charter member and president of the Northern Neck Kiwanis Club. He is a past president of the Virginia Sheriff’s Association, past president of the White Stone Vol. Fire Department and Past Master of Lancaster Union Lodge #88, A.F. & A.M., in Kilmarnock. He has served on the board of the Northern Neck YMCA and is a member of the Lancaster Lions Club.

Sheriff Crockett, the son of the late Vernon Crockett, a seafood processor, and his wife Doris, grew up in Irvington. He attended Richard Bland College in Petersburg, majoring in business.  Crockett served with the Virginia State Police from 1971-1976 and was assigned to Richmond, Northern Virginia and New Kent County.

During his administration, the sheriff’s office has received accreditation through the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission and has successfully obtained federal and state grant monies in excess of $2.2 million dollars for law enforcement and related services.

In addition to services mandated by the Code of Virginia, the sheriff’s office supports the following programs for the benefit of the community:
